MSN1 = Rolls Royce test bed MSN4 = Engine Alliance test bed MSN4 never had Rolls Royce engines. sorry - lost the pic I have a note that it started off as 380-841, then became 380-861 as the EA test frame. I saw 2 pics of 2006/2008 which show RR on the engine nacelles. The EA graphics are much bigger on a 2010 dated pic I saw Attachments:

I am intrigued to know what was involved. If it was straight-forward, it may be possible that MSN002 will become an Emirates frame

F-WWDD (MSN004) came off the production line with RR engines in 2005. The RRs were then swapped for EAs in 2009. Airframe history here: www.planespotters.net/Production_List/Airbus/A380/004,F-WWDD-Airbus-Industrie.php The Etihad livery was painted on it while it was still equipped with RRs.

Many thanks for clearing that up. That's a useful site to be aware of

Wild guess: happy new year? Airbus posted that picture on their Facebook page for the Chinese new year.
