Anyone else wonders about this orderbook numbers? "seven Airbus A380-800s (10 firm and 3 options)".

From the outstart, QR has been lumping together their 10 firm orders and three options, speaking of thirteen A380s.

The two versions are really different. I don't know what QR actually said, but delaying delivery of already in production aircraft under pretext of oil price fluctuation does not make any sense.
AAB has confirmed having delayed deliveries, and says he is now ready to resume receiving A380s. We do not know his reasons, but we are not going to be fooled by the alleged explanation.
I believe QR had committed to too much investment last year, and had to put off some deliveries for financial reasons. I don't expect AAB to confess it was just poor planning.
I almost forgot to express pleasure that QR still intends to firm its three options.

Qatars problem is they delayed some frames when the oil price was high ! If they had not done that they would now be much closer to getting MSN 193 say next month and then MSN 197 in say June 2016 while the oil price is low So they now reactivate those frames and get them in a 9 months to a years time, guess what oil prices might have gone way up by then, oh dear

Remember Al Baker said last year Qatar had difficulties getting their A380's 'work' for them in the right way, only making money on specific routes and load factors. The 193 saga, Al Bakers statement that the A380 will operate to Sydney from June and now this makes me think he is a bit undecided about fleet planning and usage. What is his strategy? Where is his A380 fleet flying to?

Where is his A380 fleet flying to? Did Al Baker have any airline work experience before being made CEO of Qatar Airlines In 1997 ? He was working for Qatar CAA before this but how did he get that job ? And what was there to do then ! Most aviation enthusiasts over the age of 50 have probably got more experience than him PS widebody aircraft hitting landing lights on takeoff happens all the time, nothing to worry about
