Speaking about the timing of the deal, I asked Emirates what was the connection between Leahy’s remarks in the future of the A380 on Monday (which caused a lot of negative A380 headlines) and a deal now. I got this political answer: “Simply, negotiations were ongoing and we are pleased to be able to sign the deal today." Also, Emirates doesn’t specify the numbers for replacement/growth I think that might be one last push as Fabrice said something about expecting MOU soon after fail to get it in DAS.

This discussion about the latest A380 order belongs in the 'A380 orders and deliveries' thread, not in the 'A380 future development' thread, which is for future design changes or new variants. a380.boards.net/thread/453/a380-orders-deliveries?page=13Please, Addasih or XWB, move all the posts there !

Big relief.
What a show before. I hope in between they didn't kill any confidence left at other airlines about the program's future.

All posts moved here. The thread 'A380 future development' should be (to me) for "New Developments", such as A380plus and other improvements.

For the right price there might be a group of re-orders from early customers. New customers might get second hand ones for cheap instead of expensive new ones.
China is a mystery to me.
Now is the time do define the Airbus strategy concerning the A380:
-what new engine is planned, are "we" waiting for the ultrafan? -is a new wing coming? -how big is it set to become? -or is Airbus just milking the ceo to some grand finale?

(if I remember the name correct...)
