The transfer from Hong Kong Airlines could be to ANY Chinese airline. Any speculations?? Hainan Airlines? HK was supposed to take deliveries from 2015 onwards. Does anyone know if this still holds true? Airbus will have to start asking for confirmation soon if they are to proceed with building them for delivery next year. MSN180 was supposed to be the first A380 for Hong Kong Airlines. That number has been re-allocated to Etihad Airways. All remaining delivery slots for 2015 have been filled by Emirates, I would not bet on a delivery for HNA Group in 2015.

We are not sure how it will be with deliveries on the end of this year and we pretend to know what is going to happen a year later ?

I agree that Hainan airlines is the most likely the new airline, if I remember correctly, when the order was announced, the rumor somewhere was that the order was actually for Hainan, they ordered it through Hong Kong Airlines due to the bureaucracy of having to put an airline order through China and also since the Chinese Govt was in the middle of the dispute over the EU ETS.
Also, on a slightly unrelated note, I believe Hong Kong Airlines was imposed with a 20 aircraft limit one or two years ago by the Hong Kong Civil aviation authority due to safety concerns.

They have right now 24: 6x320, 17x330, 1x737-700 Up to that there is sister HongKongExpress with 5x320 i.e. the restriction is not too strictly enforced. Compared to that Hainan is big airline with 128 planes.

Compared to that Hainan is big airline with 128 planes. And owning or part owning a few other airlines. African World airlines (42%) Aigle Azur (48%) Bejing capital airlines (70%) Chang'an airlines (100%) China West air (68%) China Xinhua Airlines (100%) Grand China Air (33%) Lucky Air (68%) my Cargo Airlines (50%) Shan Xi Airlines (100%) Tianjin Airlines (20%) Yangtze River Express (51%) (cargo) Zest Airways (40%) and part in the Turkish ACT airlines (cargo) There are three start ups in the works: Fuzhou Airlines Heilongjiand Airlines Urumqi Airlines If you need a private ride Hong Kong jet So yes quite the little operation

If the transfer is inside the Hainan group, it may be of little significance. For instance, the purpose might be to show compliance with the government ruling which restricted Honk-Kong Airlines to operating regional flights.
But, again, if this is inside the same group, why make a secret of it ?

Let's wait and see The difference I thing between HNA group and the other airlines is, that HNA is not state run. They do not take part in the "bundle", they order themselves. That is why I do believe a mix and match between the airlines in the HNA group, Hainan Airlines is for example wet leasing some A330 from Hong Kong Airline, but not with the big state owned carriers. HNA does cooperation deals with the local governments in the provinces and/or towns rather than with the central government.
