Does anyone have any more info on whether Airbus has made changes to the production batches? I remember Airbus saying that the final batch three would start from MSN17. But the following aviation week article dated 26th Feb suggests it would now start from MSN21. Airbus Reports Large Charge For A350 ProgramHowever, this aviation week blog, also dated 26th Feb, says it is still MSN17 onwards... I'm confused! The A350 Charge: Batch By Batch

It is interesting. IT verifies what was said a year ago by Airbus - that they will certify both types.

Yes, the A350-800 has been pushed back, MSN154 is now supposed to be the first unit. I would not trust any information about the A350-800 before Airbus has disclosed its plans to address that market segment (A330 neo or not ?).

That's the blog which started me looking for more info. It appears to have sourced the information from the first Aviation week article I linked above. I cannot find any other recent Aviation week article on the matter nor have I seen any other sources talking about the change. Since the Aviation week blog from the same day still says that batch 3 begins at 17, I'm inclined to believe that the 21 is an error that was re-quoted by the A350 blog.

Baroque, you may be right, that blog is not a premium source. One reason their assertion cannot be dismissed is that all this was mentioned at the same time Airbus disclosed a one-off additional charge on the A350 programme. A delayed move to batch 3 would indeed be probably quite expensive.

A delayed move to batch 3 would indeed be probably quite expensive. The first article I linked above gives some of the reasons why they took the charge. We must also not forget that Airbus made changes to the battery system during the year as well. It mentions batch 2 as spanning from MSN 5-20 only on one instance. The second link just notes as a summary that "The charge had to be taken because the initial aircraft turned out to be more expensive to build than planned." But it gives the detailed look at the batches, and keeps mentioning MSN17 as the first of batch 3. So I guess this is more accurate.
