The transfer to TLS suggests it is more than some interior parts. I wonder when we will know more....

Could Airbus assign the frame to another airline? Tail fin could be painted and rest of the frame is still empty... - I would assume they would need to change the engines as they are separate by contracts etc. What else?

To me it only looks like hangar availability, HFW is/was/will be already very full. Though, interesting to have such a flight ID (AIB 02SL), as it is already the 4th flight... As MSN047 and MSN050 5 years ago and MSN167 lately, MSN162 might as well have its engines removed before going into storage... and I do not believe MSN162 could be transferred to another airline...

In the air also this Friday afternoon but what for ? fr24.com/AIB02SLIt has a Toulouse flight #; would it be going back to TLS for storage even if it does not make sense ? Like all of you, I read the delay reason being linked to some parts not fitting in the cabin. However with now this "return" to Toulouse, is there not another reason behind all this being that Skymark no longer wants A380 in its fleet for economic reasons ? In such case, it would not be a delay of 2,5 to 6 months but much longer which in turns explain why MSN 162 would be sent back to TLS I think the reason is not that Skymark doesn't no longer want the A380, but can't no longer afford it.

I think engines could in theory be changed. Technicians from the new airline would only need to do a full check and the airline would probably get a slight discount. I am doing a work experience at Rolls Royce in Derby at the moment in the production line and they can transfer whole modules in between two engines if required. I don't know how that works with the Engine Alliance engine, but I guess about the same. Also different because the engines will have already been used before, while in production they haven't. But I think you could extend this from modules up to whole engines. Both Airbus and RR have their own term for doing that: Airbus "cannablizing" and RR "reassign"

...Though, interested to have such a flight ID (AIB 02SL), as it is already the 4th flight... Just looked up what SL could stand for. These are my choices • Second Life • Short Lived • Service Learning • Skill Level • Security Level • Starting Line • Spot Light • Self Locking • Sensitivity Level • Sensation Level • Same Lane • Skill Less • Specification Limit • Shift Lock • Store Left • Structural Logic • Survivors Law • Slow Loader • Sit and Look • Sans Laquer • Stored Logic • Service Level • Signature Line
