I do hope we might see the MSN232 going home too - and that is all for 2017 - well still it would be 1 more than expected. Well, one more this year, one less next year, so ... Looking forward at the program and ABs strategy going forward, the EK fiasco at the airshow in Dubai is only the tip of the iceberg, which was the last straw that broke the camel's back regarding the shakeup at the top of AB management. As a legacy inspired parting "gift" to the Leahy/Bergier/Enders "team" I would not be surprised to see something unexpected transpire positively for the program before the end of February as both AB and EK have so much invested over such a long period of time. The understanding is that AB has a clear picture of where they want to go together with EK on this, however it's the required supplier base that still has not confirmed agreement and participation.

You sound very optimistic - let's hope it will come as you predict !

Well. the facts are that AB and EK were ready to go ahead with an order that would have preserved the program, however hesitation by RR and commitment to the continued development of the Trent engine is what derailed things. RR and the other suppliers need to make sure the program continues to be profitable for them. In order to remain so for all stakeholders, the only viable option is to finally commit to the NEO and a production rate of minimum 1 frame a month. The risk to AB of course is they would require orders for about 80 or so frames over the next 10 years from carriers other than EK, assuming EK antes up and commits to the 100+ NEO frames that Sir Tim boasted about at Farnborough a few years back. THat's the dilemma facing AB. Do they take the risk that Enders was so averse to taking back then?

Sean, you may be right, but we cannot be quite sure of what actually derailed the deal. As what happened was a last minute collapse, it may be a matter of wording. I don't want to speculate too much, I hope they bypass the roadblock, whatever it is.
