I now count 49 787-9 orders for ILFC instead of 41. Good spot, ILFC certainly should be able to predict future airline demand as well as anybody. More evidence that the 787-9 has become more popular than the 787-8. Geoff

Updated figures for end of April attached. Boeing still to book their first airliner widebody order of 2014. With higher deliveries for Boeing and higher orders for Airbus the orderbook gap between the two has further narrowed. The anticipated 200+ orders for the 777X will change this trend, when they are firmed, maybe a 2nd launch at Farnborough. As already flagged above, with the ILFC conversion, the 787-9 continues to add orders at the expense of the 787-8. Latest A330 sales are for the military MRTT version which unfortunately Airbus doesn't separte out from the standard A330-200. Geoff

Geoff Airbus however provides a list of military orders and deliveries on the website of its military subsidiary (which should be linked to from Airbus' main website). I believe A330 MRTT orders are listed twice, with all A330 orders and with military sales.

Well BOEING states it's military 737 + 767 in the common list too.

Well BOEING states it's military 737 + 767 in the common list too. Yes, because a barebone airframe is manufactured on the FAL along with commercial frames, and then delivered to the military subsidiary for outfitting. The same applies to business jets, which are delivered to a specialist outfitter.

Right - so I would say there is no reason not to count them - that was the original idea.

Airliners, military aircraft and business jets are quite different market segments. Analysing them separately makes a lot of sense, but you can as well lump them altogether if you need a very broad view of the market.
So, it's anybody's choice. I only wish to point out that, in the long term, any grand total including military aircraft will showcase Boeing as an undisputed leader. Think of upcoming 767 tanker sales ...

Think I'll stick with the numbers that Airbus and Boeing publish whilst recognising that there are inconsistencies and anomalies as a result.
Thanks for all your advice.

At least Boeing are reporting the 767-2C seperately in their unfilled orders report. Geoff

The Airbus figures for May were published this morning. Nothing from Boeing yet but they may be out later today ( Thursday seems to be their preferred day ).
A quiet month for A330 deliveries, with only 6. Possibly related to the paintshop accident ? Good to see 4 A380s delivered. No changes ( orders, conversions or cancellations ) to the orderbook.
Will update my tables when I have Boeing's numbers. Seems as though it will stay very quiet until Farnborough next month.
