According to Airbus' monthly delivery spreadsheet, a total of 342 A340s are still in service. The problem is that according to the AB XLS the planes in storage are considered still active, so...... IT might be correct there is quite a number of various 340s in storage not yet scraped.

Per ATDB, 292 A340s are active and 45 are in storage.

From the airbus 2014 order thread: Seems like part of the deal is that Airbus will buy 4 A340-300s from Finnair in 2016-2017

Airbus has been buying back quite a few A340s. I hope lower fuel prices will allow these birds to find a new home.
