from their web side - rather outdated - made 2011 without update... peculiar. WE HAVE MAJOR EXPANSION PLANS FOR 2011, INCLUDING NEW AIRCRAFTS AND NEW DESTINATIONS. DEL(INDIA) – CHINA - USA So maybe the plans were just postponed

Will Airbus provide tech support to these frames or is it barred by sanctions?

One more idea why - they were dirty cheap - basically price of scrap. The fuel is cheap in YI - so at least 1/2 way low expenses. But on the other point of view - 3 are wet leased from HiFly - so my remark might be just joking.

That's an excellent way for Mahan to modernise its fleet and for Airbus to keep the aircraft flying - and consuming spares.

Will Airbus provide tech support to these frames or is it barred by sanctions? I doubt sales of used ten-years-old aircraft to Iran are banned. I read the embargo was being softened. I may be wrong, though.

SAS just announced a plan to increase their longhaul fleet by three aircraft. This implies that 3 of the 4 A340-300 that was coming of lease the next 12 months will be kept. Previously the intention was to replace all of these with the 4 242mt A330-300 to be delivered
SAS will thus have 7 A340-300 next summer, including one leased from Airbus with LAN configuration, down from 8 today
