You are right. This flight on FR24 refers to A330 msn 451, former Emirates A6-EAJ. The A340-600 XWB refers to is in Basle. It has been delivered as VP-CDD, so the Airbus registration F-WJKG became available again. FR24 has not yet updated this.

Then FR24 have a database that matches HEX codes to Aircraft Regs ? Then link to Planespotters.net just for the picture ? Q Do we have a member who works for / At FR24 ?

Q The aircraft transmits the HEX code ? Then FR24 have a database that matches HEX codes to Aircraft Regs ? Then link to Planespotters.net just for the picture ? A I think the registration F-WJKG has a fixed HEX code. This would be possible because all Airbus test registrations are only used on 1 (one) aircraft at the same time. If and when a registration is applied to more than one aircraft (which sometimes happens) then one of the two is grounded. I have an example on my site (albeit ATR), check out the dates on both the first and second picture.
Q What picture on Planespotters are you referring to?

Th picture on the FR24 site is got from Planespotters.net database using the Registration From FR24s database as a link to get one. so if Planespotters.net don't have a picture or recognise the Registration that FR24 database is asking about you get one of the generic graphics. When you click on the picture in FR24 it then fires up planespotters.net with the aircrafts full details / history (but I guess you know that bit?)

What you never tapped or clicked on the picture in FR24 ? Nope. Only used it (untill now) for the relevant (to me) data such as flightnumber, flightpath, registration, take off and landing times
