What is the reason to deliver the European and Middle East A380's from XFW and the others from TLS? I'm sure it was explained once on the previous forum but I forgot.

Is it middle east or just Emirates (beside Europe) would be my next question

Common sense would be 'let the customer decide' but I suspect that a political deal was cut between France and Germany.

I didn't keep track of this, but I seem to remember all LH aircraft were delivered from XFW and most (if not all) EK's

I believe the reason was/is that the A380 cannot take off from XFW fully loaded (i.e. fuel wise) to make it to South East Asia / China / Korea etc.? Could be wrong though...

It has to do with the workers at TLS and XFW getting an equal share in the deliveries. Maybe union related.

It has to do with the workers at TLS and XFW getting an equal share in the deliveries. Maybe union related. I don't think so, since deliveries do not bring much work. However, for such an iconic project, national pride is an issue. France having the FAL, Germany claimed customisation, but France did not want to be deprived of deliveries ... The above is the starting point only. How this translated into detailed delivery 'rules', I do not know.

I had read in a book a few years ago that it was indeed sort of a compromise between France and Germany, share of the tasks as philidor mentions. The only exception so far to the rule was MSN030 for Emirates, that was delivered from TLS, and I still don't know the reason... Fabien

Hmm, seems my memory is playing up on me (am I really getting old?).
Really thought to recall it had to do with the "distance" of XFW to its final destination...
