I might be wrong but it seems to me that QR doesn't fly (yet?) to BHX, could they open a new route directly with A350s?..... QR do not fly to Birmingham currently! It has always surprised me how few long-haul international carriers use the airport based on the geographical location, demography within 1 hours drive / ease of access, growth in business in the West Midlands (lot of automotive, aerospace and engineering (loads of engineering jobs available at Jaguar and BMW by the way guys)) and the relative ease of getting through the airport (in and out bound). I'd expect Emirates to upgrade if it is A380 capable....maybe QR will target BHX, especially if Qataris are investing in the industry there. AS XWB says, why not?! :-)

BHX is A380 capable but Emirates have chosen recently not to upgrade one of the twice daily 777 flights with an A380 but to add a 3rd 777 daily flight from this summer.

More than a week of double daily DOH-FRA, no replacement or cancellation. ALA is flying since 13th feb with just one interruption. No service but I guess planed on the 8th of march (ALB was used this day). BTW: There were some switches between ALA and ALB, so the late one from FRA (QR68) can do the next early morning flight (QR69). Just a 2:40 stop in DOH. That means a long 13h stop for the other one. www.flightradar24.com/reg/a7-alawww.flightradar24.com/reg/a7-alb

That's the beauty of having two aircraft: if one goes tech they can use the second aircraft for the first flight, and fix the aircraft in time for the second flight.

Most probably, the substitutions had been planned to allow scheduled maintenance.
