Why would the LR have a different door configuration ? someone Less passengers / less exits. ? Believe it is both related to weight, but passenger configuration as well. Door 2 will be removed and instead two overwing exits will be used

Or would the centre section be the same as that used on the A320neo ?

And you cannot convert a standard A321neo into an LR

If I understand it well both pictures seems to have the door the same ? On the picture of the door 3 it is positioned differently - but the test is the same....
What was written about the LR before I do believe it would be impossible to recognize from the outside... but as always we will see.

Because the A321neo will be launced with the standard door configuration. The new optional door configuration will be launced (about?) the same time as the A321neoLR in 2018

Airbus works with incremental updates, development timeline looks as follows: - Q4 2016: A321neo EIS - Q2 2018: new cabin/door configuration up to 240 seats - Q2 2019: A321neoLR EIS The new cabin is optional for both A321neo and A321neoLR. The A321neoLR is just an A321neo with additional fuel tanks.

Deletion of door 2 allows them to keep the premium seats within a single cabin but still be compliant with egress requirements. I read somewhere that Airbus is working towards making this new configuration the standard build once it enters service.
