I've moved the posts here, I've rethought of it and could it be fair to give 1 point to those who bet for the wrong MSN, just as an encouragement point?... Could work like this: 1 point for wrong MSN, 3 points for MSN in sequence, 6 points for MSN not in sequence, and 10 points for HoV (in or out of sequence) The flaw would be somebody always betting for the HoV until he/she gets it, getting always one point and then the jackpot.... any thoughts?..  |

Great idea Fabien regarding a token point for just betting on an MSN. Many times we've seen members placing bets well beforehand, prior to going away for a while. Good to reward them for being spirited participants. I think your system looks alright to me. |

Fabien, I like the idea of giving a free point to all participants, but in my opinion there is no need to give an incentive to vote for HoVs. These are the most likely frames to be convoyed out of sequence, so most members wanting to vote for an out-of-sequence frame would naturally choose the next HoV. Also, there is only one HoV left (Transaero ...).
--> with your proposal, people would vote either for the next MSN or for Transaero, never for another frame.
My conclusion : implement your 1 point/3 points/6 points proposal, drop the 10 points.
(Is "+ 3" for an out of sequence vote a large enough incentive ? I hope so, but I don't know ...)

Also, there is only one HoV left Transaero ... Come on philidor, be a little more optimistic that there will be more HoVs in the future!  One must be cautious of keeping on betting on an HoV, for an out of sequence MSN. It might get them the jackpot 10 points if it comes earlier than expected but if not, if someone follows the sequence they too can get maximum points. You have to exercise a bit of good judgment. And HoVs are rare, and as you imply, after Transaero, it may be a long time before we get another one. Personally, I prefer to keep the 10 pt bonus for HoVs. |

Fabien could you make the calculation for this year betting - what would have come out of those new - rules.
If I have time later in the night I might do it - if oyu have it in EXCEL or something it would be easy.

I think we should take the new rules just from 2015 and leave the previous bets/convoys as they are I'd also tend to join Baroque, HoV with 10 pts isn't a bad idea So would be like this from cv2015/01? 1 point for wrong MSN, 3 points for MSN in sequence, 7 points for MSN not in sequence 10 points for HoV (in or out of sequence) |

I am not smart enough to understand why you want to introduce this weird system. Please imagine we will have 50% of all planes for EK ! And the consequences. Try to evaluate the 2014 results with this system - would there be some change in the final result ? Im with you on this one, im not the sharpest tool in the shed, but im finding this one a tad odd especially with so many EK frames in the mix at some point it will get tedious and wee will beback to a single point scoring system. Only my opinion. |
