www.flightglobal.com/news/articles/airasia-x-mulls-all-economy-a330s-438129/"The AirAsia X is considering configuring some of its on-order A330s in a high-density, all-economy layout and deploy them on medium-haul routes. In an email to FlightGlobal, AirAsia X confirmed that it was evaluating the layout for some of the 66 A330-900s it has on order, or even leasing in A330-300s in a high-density configuration." "At present, Lion Air operates the most densely configured A330-300s, with 440 seats in an all-economy layout, Fleets Analyzer shows. Cebu Pacific Air's A330-300s follow close behind with 436 seats."

m.aviationweek.com/awincommercial/airasia-x-eying-a330-lease-market "AirAsia X is looking to lease more Airbus A330s to support growth before its A330neos begin arriving. The long-haul LCC currently has no more A330ceos on order, and has a substantial gap before its A330neos are due to be delivered towards the end of 2018. So AAX is considering adding another 4-6 used A330s in 2017–18 through third-party leases, CEO Benyamin Ismail told Aviation Daily on the sidelines of the CAPA Australia Pacific Aviation Summit. Is it possible the AirAsia X is a customer for the QR-Frames in storage. As example MSN63? Maybe that is a possible cause why we see some activity with MSN63. Let us start the speculations.

I would say it's possible, provided the cost of cabin refurbishing is not too high. Is it very costly? The cost of cabin refurbishing includes the cost of the seats, cabin monuments and other fittings, as well as manpower. I think most of the supplies can be re-used on other QR frames. As regards manpower, whatever was spent to fit out the frame to QR's specs was Airbus' unrecovered cost. What is to be spent to re-fit the aircraft is included in the new buyer's sales price. I don't think this issue could block a sale. There are, however, other potential buyers.

a380.boards.net/post/100133/thread In the same article, Mr Maghfur is also quoted as saying that Air Asia does not expect to receive its first two A330neo before year-end 2018 or even early 2019.
