If we use the same logic he is applying on Airbus, he should wait 1-2 years after entery to service before he buys the MAX

I guess Airbus will have to find another launch operator for the A321neo. He should never again be allowed to be a launch customer for a new aircraft type, new derivative, new engine, new car, new crisp flavour, new child's toy etc etc etc .....

I guess Airbus will have to find another launch operator for the A321neo. that is a fair thought. I think another poster can offer some input. i fail to recall their name now. they did suggest a lot of backroom negotiations could be ongoing between Airbus and Qatar. then again, his nick name is U-turn Al.

I guess Airbus will have to find another launch operator for the A321neo. Indigo is happy with its A320neo. They recently converted 20 A320neo to A321neo but to be delivered from 2019. They must be happy to take up Qatar's A321neo slots like their A320neo. Due to delays by Airbus on A320neo program and competition, they have almost a quarter of their fleet are used airplanes unlike their original plan of having brand new planes only.

I guess Airbus will have to find another launch operator for the A321neo. I was guessing a long time ago this is going to happen ! I do believe AB will have no problem to find someone.

What does being a "launch" customer actually give you other than getting the first aircraft? Or is just for the airlines ego?

What does being a "launch" customer actually give you other than getting the first aircraft? Or is just for the airlines ego? Apart from the best delivery slots, a launch customer gets an additional price discount, other financial advantages and an enhanced manufacturer support. On the other hand, he incurs increased technical risks, while agreed delivery dates are more tentative than firm.

Well, MSN 6829 is no more. Arrived in XFW only 1 week ago, I suppose the plane was empty on the inside, making cabin installation for another airline rather easy. MSN 6772 on the other hand was built at XFW and probably got a cabin installed, making refurbishment more time consuming. A320neo IndiGo VT-ITV by Tobias Gudat, on Flickr
