I don't read the quotes as reporting any decision, except that QR is not receiving any narrowbody next year. If you read the quotes, QR would like to receive one or more A321neos next year, but no mention is made of an agreement with Airbus. The aircraft type (A320neo or A321neo) is uncertain, and so is the engine manufacturer. The main lesson you can draw from QR's record is that talk does not necessarily mean action.

So, MSN 6904 goes to Indigo, but with only one of its initial engines. The second one was changed, probably after suffering one of the failures that still plague the P&W engine.

Perhaps some kind of accident? There is also the green area on the fuselage behind the wing.

The second engine on MSN 6904 appears to be an Airbus test engine.
