According to Yahoo's French edition, a contract for the purchase of 50 A321 (I guess -neo) was signed during Macron's visit to Qatar, together with other contracts. Though a fighter aircraft sale makes the headlines, the airliner sale is indeed mentioned. fr.news.yahoo.com/qatar-signe-lachat-dau-moins-12-rafale-50-092544497--finance.htmlThis contract is probably a conversion of QR's existing A320neo order. The agreement means that the main issue that created a lasting tension between Qatar Airways and Airbus has been settled, which probably explains the recent resumption of A350 deliveries by the airline.

It’s a “reconfirm” & “upsize”. Just curious, how many NEO is currently ordered by Qatar?

It’s a “reconfirm” & “upsize”. Just curious, how many NEO is currently ordered by Qatar? Before this conversion, they had 30 A320neos and 16 A321neos on order. I posted this in the orders thread but I'll post the following information here as well. From the Airbus and QR press releases, deliveries begin in 2019 and the aircraft will be in the ACF configuration.

Stating that the airline "has reconfirmed and upsized an order to buy 50 A321neo aircraft" does not really clarify the changes to QR's orders, because no mention is made of the previous - or still existing - A320neo order.
Previously, the airline had an order for 16 A321neo and 30 A320neo.
If the new order for 50 A321neo replaces both previous orders, then the 'upsize' is an increase of no more than 4 planes, exactly offsetting the already booked cancellation of the first four A320neo.
If however the new order only replaces the previous A321neo order (= the A320neo order is not canceled), then the 'upsize' is an increase of 34 units - at least for the moment.

I read it as up-sizing the value of the order book (A321 is bigger/more expensive than A320neo).
Press release also states that it replaces the previous order.
