A bit more info for the number crunchers out there 150/161 passenger load for the first flight, a 93% load factor. No water cannons by the looks of it . Here's a short vlog by Richard Quest.

No water cannons by the looks of it . Fear not! There was one for the departure of SQ21! SQ22 arrived at Newark in the early morning before the sun had risen which would explain why they did the water cannon salute for SQ21

Can't send her off without a good scrubbing on her first flight out of EWR. Which way is expected to be technically the longest flight in terms of hours? SIN-EWR or EWR-SIN?

Planned flight time SQ22 SIN-EWR is 20 min shorter, 18h25min vs. 18h45min. The direct way is minimal western (358deg) from SIN, almost directly over the north pole. SQ22 SIN-EWR was going eastern on a longer route (by km) to use the jetstreams. Flight time yesterday was 17h22min. SQ21 EWR-SIN used the northpole route, only a few degree eastbound. Flight time was 17h35min. Edit: Actual flightime of SQ21

Looking at flightaware history, no flights have so far crossed the 18 hour mark yet. They did come just a minute shy. Then again, not sure how accurate they are, as they seem to think the A345 is back in action, lol.

The Flightaware times are from gate to gate with roll times on ground. Real time in air is ~25min shorter.

Flight time was 17h35min. SQ changed the timetables. SQ22 starts now over 65min later after midnight and arrives 30min later in NY, so it is 35 minutes „faster“. SQ21 is now scheduled to arrive now 25min earlier. Most of the flights take the atlantic jetstream route over northern GB and scandinavia.
