I thought the gulf carriers would not need a ULR due to the gulf states position on the globe ? Unless they are planning direct routes that do NOT go thru their own hub airports ?

Many American destinations are ULH from the Middle East. EK's forthcoming Dubai-Panama City route should for a while be the world's longest commercial route.

I think there should be another term for flights over 15 hours VVVLR or something as Wikipedia says ULH is just over 12 hours, which is nothing any more Quote from Wiki- Short-haul flight: Under 3 hours Medium-haul flight: 3 to 6 hours Long-haul flight: 6 to 12 hours Ultra long-haul flight: Over 12 hours

Perhaps wiki should call it ILH, or Insanely Long Haul.

Perhaps wiki should call it ILH, or Insanely Long Haul. We are used to sleeper trains, so Sleeper Planes or SP, just thought that's already been done by the B747SP

...Sleeper Planes or SP, just thought that's already been done by the B747SP These days that "Special Performance" is just A330 territory. Just imagine the day we get LHR-AKL non-stop. It will probably be called the OMFGHaul.

It will probably be called the OMFGHaul. Do you mean A350 For the SP territory ? The A330 does not have the range ? LHR-AKL is just a day missing from your life. Put bunk beds in the plane and let everyone sleep
