That means for sure Jkkw is moving to Perth I've got 3 EK, 2 (soon to be 1) SQ and 3 (soon to be 4) QF A380 arrival/departures a day, makes up for Perth getting the A350 next year.

Yesterday, Vienna had it's first scheduled emirates A380 flight, due to their 10 year anniversary of this route. It will stay the only scheduled flight for now, as the ministry of transportation normally bans the emirates A380, as they fly in direct competition to Austrian Airlines on this route. The flight was fully booked. Link to photo and video summaryLink to my flickr photos of the visit

Nothing wrong with flying the A380 on short-haul routes, the problem is the cabin configuration: 1. The A380 is a heavy aircraft with a high trip cost 2. Ticket prices for such a short route can never be high enough to cover the trip cost 3. Usually first class seats are empty on such flights, resulting in further losses China Southern made huge losses due to similar reasons, i.e. you fly an aircraft with a cabin configuration for international long-haul flights on short domestic/regional hops. Maybe I'm wrong about Dubai - Kuwait. If so, it would be an exception. An A380 with an two-class cabin configuration with over 600 seats for domestic usage might work, the huge amount of seats would cover the trip cost. One should not forget the word "consistency", especially for the guys upfront. Offering a true first class all the way might just attract the big spenders to fly EK. The additional premium clients might make more then up for the loss on the Kuwait leg.
