Actually before that, it will move from the Spring to double A380. Exactly from March 30

Fabien Hi Fabien, if this article (only in German www.airliners.de/emirates-wieder-im-a380-doppelpack-nach-muenchen/30988 ) is correct it will be 1st of Jan to 12th of Jan for double daily before regular double starts with summer schedule on 30th of March. Replacement of 777ER to A380 represents a seat increase of 1800/week or round 250/day. Walter

Isn't that also happening, because EK won't expand any more at LHR and therefore has to do so at LGW? I think that I read a statement a while ago, saying that they won't upgrade any further flights to A380 (think they still got one B777 rotation left) and that they also won't try to get any further slots.

All LHR rotations EK1/EK2, EK3/EK4, EK5/EK6, EK7/EK8 and EK29/EK30 are A380s. EK has 5 slots in LHR but if you add QF rotations with code share, this give you 7. For Gatwick EK has 3 daily flight currently operated by B777. With one of them switching to A380 as mentioned in the post made by Jkkw

But you can see at this link that Munich is served by 777-300 rather 200 and also the switch to the current A380 mode. Just google for the aircraft registration and you get the type e.g. A6-EGU etc. ( www.flightradar24.com/data/flights/ek51) Walter

Hi Walter,
By the looks of it EK51 was always operated by a 77W. The 3-class 77W in Emirates layout has either 354 or 360 seats (according to seatguru), whereas the A380 LR-version (which I suppose is used on the MUC flights) has 497 seats.
Hence the difference is anything between 137 and 143 seats/day or 959 and 1,001 seats/week.
The difference would be even less if the 77W used on EK51 would have been a 2-class. (Sorry, I didn't check....)
Altogether, not such a dramatic increase in seats as the article suggests.
Airny
