Two A321neo‘s for La Compagnie: There's no mention if it's a LR so can we assume that a normal 321neo can make it given their business class layout or would they need the LR? Here's a rendering of the aircraft Pascal beat me by a minute or two in posting that rendering, so no need to duplicate it! twitter.com/_LaCompagnie/status/910806539304407041"]

For once I might agree with Richard Aboulafia's proposition that UA just want to force the airbus purchase price down. The article quotes no apparent difference to most passengers re fuselage width but I don't fall into that category. If the seat or aisle are wider than a rival, with all other things being equal I'd take the A320 series.

'Most-favoured customer' clauses are rare indeed ! I could see Airbus granting such a clause to AA to close the famous deal that forced Boeing to launch the 737 MAX. I also can imagine market prices going down later, possibly making AA's price not attractive to-day to another major customer like UA.
Therefore, Kirby may be right, though Airbus may also raise the issue just to keep a higher price, as Aboulafia suggests.
Yet, the most interesting tidbit of information, in my opinion, is that Kirby is quoted as saying that the validity of the clause will eventually expire and that United will seriously consider Airbus jets then.

I'm trying to figure how this deal compares with the deal that Delta gets from Airbus. considering delta keeps buying airbus products. any insight would be appreciated...

The A330 column of the order and delivery spreadsheet has some problem again.
It shows total order of A330-300 is 786, total delivery is 715, leaving 71 frames unfulfilled.
But if you add those columns together, Aer Lingus 1, BOC 1, CASC 21, Egyptair 1, HK Aielines 9, HK Int'l Aviation Leasing 5, Saudi (Int'l AirFinanceCorp) 3, Lion Air 3, and Undisclosed 29. The total unfulfilled frames became 73.
It's not the first time Airbus showing wrong figures.
