I have a question / request for help !
I was talking to my partners Dad (84) about his time working at Filton for Bristol Aeroplane Co. in the early 1950's and his dad who worked for Bristol Siddeley until he retired in 1962 with a lovely engraved watch which we have.
I am now trying to find a "family tree" like diagram of the english aircraft / engines manufacturers and how / when they Merged together etc. E.g. Hawker and Siddeley, Vickers and Supermarine, ....down to BAC / BAE ... can anyone help ?

Wikipedia has a timeline. Go to BAE_Systems on Wikipedia, scroll down one page and click [show] in the line Timeline of British aerospace companies since 1955. I don't know if this is very extensive or not, but at least a start.

Yes, use a desk- or laptop. I had a look on my tablet, indeed does not show on the mobile version.

So when they merged the aircraft mfgs, they all spun off their engine sides into other companies resulting in RR !

The proposed acquisition likely requires a regulator approval (or rather a 'nihil obstat'). I wonder whether an Icelandic monopoly will be held palatable ... Remember that the Ryan Air attempts to buy Aer Lingus raised a lot of objections ...

As a Canadian, I find this a very worrying development when a significant market player is snapped up by a very dominant one such as Air Canada. Our air fares are already some of the most expensive compared to other parts of the world and further consolidation is absolutely punishing its consumers. Who will be the next to absorbed? Sunwing? Porter??
