Doesn't that orange bit on the tail tip relate to some general test (not customer) configuration? How many Sharklet test A321s were produced?

Two. MSN5295 with CFMs (now with VietJet, 9000th Airbus delivered) and MSN5470 with IAE (now with Sichuan).

Ok...it rules that out.
But what's happening to Avianca? They seem to be shuffling around their deliveries?

Doesn't that orange bit on the tail tip relate to some general test (not customer) configuration? Indeed, there is also a rod, looks like a sensor. I checked some images. Only other testaircraft have it, too.

So it does seem like Airbus is doing extensive testing using the aircraft. I wonder if they are testing among the neo things, stuff like the LR features, i.e. 3 ACTs, take off performance etc.

The only thing I could see the logic to test is if they have implemented som new aerodynamic features

The only thing I could see the logic to test is if they have implemented som new aerodynamic features I think you are right, Airbus use this frame like he use MSN01/FWWBA for the development of the A320Neo.
