Contrary to the A321-200NX(LR), the XLR will have its own type certificate and thus faces more stringent certification procedures" I think the "own type certification" takes a long time, not only the test itself, also the heavy paperwork on the certification. You need many resources to check and confirm all the tests and papers. From the Boeing MAX and Boeing 777X we learned that now all takes more time as before, which is good for a savety plane.

The deal, financial terms of which were not disclosed, will also comprise options for another 12 of the long-haul narrowbody.
