If I remember correctly, Rolls-Royce has no legal exclusivity as far as the A359 is concerned, but is the exclusive A35 K engine provider. Anyhow, the project seems not to be to re-engine existing A350 variants, only to develop an engine 'for possible future variants of the [A350]'.I cannot read the article, can anybody confirm ?
I see several roadblocks :
- the market size for a larger A350 variant ;
- Reducing engine commonality in the A350 family ;
- uncertain competitiveness of a GENx derived engine versus a Rolls-Royce Ultrafan.
