Fantastic news. A true great of the airline industry. Forget Qatar. And there are some other good Cargo-Airlines with old planes. UPS has many old A300-600F, 757-200PF, 767-300ERF and some 747-400F Atlas Air and Cargolux has also very old 747-400F

A300, 757, and 767 will be replaced by smaller frames than the A350F.

Who are the likely launch customers for the freighter? Airbus would need like at least two it seems? A few guesses: Singapore - to replace aging 744F cargo sub-fleet of 7 Turkish - additional cargo capacity on top of A332F and B777F Air China Cargo - to replace aging 744F sub-fleet of 3 and expansion China Airlines - to replace aging 744F cargo sub-fleet of 18 (currently accepting new B777F though) Air France-KLM - to replace retired 744 combi sub-fleet My predicted orders from Singapore and Air France-KLM are close to be materialised (currently LoI), and Singapore is most likely to be the launch airline for A350F - at least they have made claim for that last month. Next one could well be China Airlines, they are retiring the 744F fleet a year earlier (and some A333s). simpleflying.com/china-airlines-b747f-retirement/The upcoming 3 new 777F is definitely not enough to cover the 18 strong 744F fleet. Obviously they could order more 777F, but the A350F must be on the table as well. The A333 fleet also need to identify replacement urgently, the three early retirement can be covered by the parked aircraft, but another 12 out of the remaining 20 need to be replaced within 3.5 years if they all need to be retired by 18 years old. China Airlines' A359 has 306 seats, and their A333 has 307/313 seats, it looks a good match if they don't want to introduce another new type like A330-900. Will be interesting to see whether Airbus can secure a top up order of 10-15 A359 plus 10-15 A350F from CI, that would be a big boost for A350 programme and filling quite a number of production slots for the next few years.

According to new China Airlines Fleet Plan, in 2022 only 2 a330-300 will be retired: www.china-airlines.com/nl/en/Images/Investor-Conference-2021NOV-en_tcm265-46226.pdfpage 30
