I'm a little confused as to what this means. I thought Airbus has been studying a 2nd A350 FAL and that the decision is to be taken by this year. The one I think you're referring to is just an extension to the existing production line. Can someone explain to me what's going on here... As i remember, during the early phase of FAL design they were thinking that some space from the A330-340 FAL would be available for the A350. But due to the recent success this buildings will remain in use for the A330 FAL. Therefore the needed to constuct a new building for the A350 FAL.

That is not correct, station 20 will still be used for both the A330 and A350.

Thanks for the clear up. I do remember reading the Germans want the 2nd a350 facility so this did make me think. I can understand from funding point of view (and the jobs) why the Germans want this. However i am thinking it might not be as efficient as adding the 2nd FAL in Toulouse (Assuming their is space to put in the 2nd facility). They make the a320's in Germany though?

I remember reading somewhere that Germany was supposed to get most of the A320 replacement work. They were then disappointed when Airbus postponed the development and so they're pushing for greater widebody involvement now.

The original plan/idea was to outfit the A350s in Hamburg, just like the A380. The plan was abandoned and Germany got more A320s to assemble instead. A second FAL will also likely stay in TLS.
