That seems to be a small problem for P&W, yet probably one too many in regard to Airbus' planned A320neo first delivery date.
I don't think however that this uneven cooling issue should elicit doubts among operators about the reliability of P&W's GTF engine. What matters more is the engine record once it enters operation.

According to Aviation Week article by Jens Flotau (who is usually reliable) Lufthansa has delayed delivery to at least the 28th or 29th. The article says Lufthansa came to the decision to defer after customer acceptance flights. It seems the troubles with the engine are causing customers considerable angst, at least that is my interpretation. Shame really, I thought for sure we would see a sizable number of deliveries this year.

According to Aviation Week article by Jens Flotau (who is usually reliable) ... It seems the troubles with the engine are causing customers considerable angst, at least that is my interpretation. Customer acceptance flights involve only Airbus personnel and LH pilots. So, any problem during these flights was raised by the latter. They are the ones who will deal with the engines, no passenger will even be aware. Quite possibly, the issue was with some temporary fix expected from P&W. Or, LH may be increasingly concerned about bad press if they take delivery before all problems have been solved. If so, they have to defer delivery until February, and decline becoming the A320neo launch customer.

While I'd expect the neo to be practically "100 percent safe" as of right now Lufthansa might consider waiting as they cannot afford any -even if just claimed without reason- media reports about safety concerns or hickups or something.
Their neo-introduction shuttle-schedule FRA-HAM-FRA-HAM seems not to trigger any of the mentioned cooldown issues because their ground times are too short.
I still hope for this year.

I do believe it will be delivered from prestigious reasons Even if later on some changes will be introduced i am sure that AB will happily introduce them and LH will live with them the same way - they got their compensation
