Qantas to ground all A380s as it further cuts back on capacity. On March 22, a few were still active. OQI flew to DRS yesterday doing a new nonstop record (over 19h). I heard that more A380 should be transferred and stored in DRS, but the local insiders decided to block all information/details. Quite a few Qantas A380's still active today.

Unconfirmed, but from a source from within Qantas I am told a post-Covid scenario is discussed to reduce the A380 fleet to just 6. Only the ones with the cabin update are to be kept. This could mean OQI in Dresden is the last to be updated. As said, nothing official but let’s keep a close eye on developments.

The link's title looks very misleading to me. It's temporary storage, not retirement.

I wonder why they don't store them in Alice Springs like SQ does?

There was a discussion about this on a.net, I think it was mentioned because of a lack of space. Plus being in the US looks more likely like a long term storage, as in Alice Springs looks more likely being short term.
