He said "I'm sure that in 2030, we'll have a stretched A380". We can expect the project to be launched in 2020 ... Unfortunately, no question was asked about the engine improvements EK is trying to achieve. I think we have to wait first and see whether EK will choose RR or EA for the future... Any bets on a water injection system?

I always found it surprising that Monsieur Leahy never learned how to speak French. Based on John Newhouse's latest book on the battle between Boeing and Airbus - Leahy chose to not learn the language of France and Toulouse; He probably more outside France trying to sell airplanes, so it is not surpring

Yes, he flies an average of 200 days per year so he's not that often in the country.

Hasn't the Boeing 747-8 engines been discussed as well, because they will sell fewer than expected for the 747-8 and need to cover the development costs? Maybe they are completely out of the question because of trust level etcetera.

I guess on a engine version providing an EIS around 2018 with the engine(s) shared with the A330. I would guess from GE a bleed version of the GEnx-1 and from RR a version of the T1000-Ten.

The Wall Street Journal has an article today, saying Airbus is in talks to reengine the A380 and go forward with one engine maker.

EA's capacity to offer an improved/new engine is a big question mark. Do we know whether and to what extent (for instance after a number of years ...) existing agreements between GE and PW allow one of them to offer a new engine of its own ?
