Thanks, great analysis. Hopefully there will be a surge of A330 deliveries soon. Geoff Seems that we had 14 A330 deliveries last month.

Spreadsheet updated with end July figures from Airbus and Boeing ; docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1LK3NGr1kFwYC9bk8u52J3X28fTAr3kPttsktJYHt2U8/edit#gid=0Airbus booked 1 new A330 order and the 7 A350 cancellations from SQ. Boeing booked 51 new freighters ( 46 767s and 5 777s ). 787 deliveries racing ahead at record levels with 12 more delivered in the month. Very quiet month for widebody deliveries from Airbus with just 4 ( 2 A330 and 2 A380 ). Regards Geoff

As far as Widebody Orderbooks are concerned Boeing has 1466 as against Airbus 1239.
Boeing has 143 Freighters in their total as against just 10 for Airbus.
For Military orders Boeing has 4 in the total and Airbus 11.
So for passenger orders only the totals are ;
Boeing 1319
Airbus 1218
Remarkably close but a fair representation of the state of the industry.
Boeing are delivering at more than twice the rate of Airbus so should get more orders in the short-term and could achieve a larger orderbook without increasing delivery times.

Geoff I believe this is for the time being.... But it will change to opposite probably in 3 years as it was before some time as the production cycles go.

Respective widebody production volumes three years from now are very difficult to predict. There are too many unknowns.

I think Boeing will still be delivering more widebodies in 2018, than Airbus. More 787s than A350s, more 777s than A330s. 767 and A380 about the same and 747 probably finished. Putting in some numbers ( guesses ) for calendar year 2018; Boeing total 252 747 - 2 767 - 20 777 - 60 787 - 170 Airbus total 195 A330 - 55 A350 - 120 A380 - 20 Airbus will have narrowed the gap but can't see them getting back ahead of Boeing with the current product ranges. My guess is there will be significantly less 777 since the X would not be there yet and the ER are not sold and significantly more 330 ... but we will see.

There is no way Boeing could produce 170 787s in 2018. No decision to produce more than 12 per month has been made, even though that number is mentioned from time to time by Boeing as being possible. So, 140 is a maximum. I am not sure Boeing will have enough demand to maintain that pace in the future.
I have no idea of A330 production in 2018.

I think Boeing could by 2018 (It's 3 yrs away) do 170 B787s a year it's only 14.2 per month, so they only need to produce 1 extra from each of the FALs each month over and above the 12 committed to already. They are learning and becoming more efficient already, so don't count them out PS this link shows they can already do 11 a month now ! docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1FH3Y2-vRUgojntPkCSJI5Pd-15rsJ1a0SFCRaT-iqgo/pub?single=true&gid=48&output=html
