EDIT : I just read mjoelnir's question. I doubt that MSN5 has already been painted at this stage - that would be an entirely new process, I believe.

I understood that the normal process for an A350 would be first painting than engine attachment.

As MSN5 is the first aircraft from batch 2, it may well be the frame chosen by Airbus to introduce some changes in the manufacturing process.

MSN 5 would be the place to start the normal process and the normal process was explained as painting before the completion stage in P20.

Well, that is indeed almost the same idea put the other way around. The only difference is that I also think of changes which had not been initially planned, but may have been suggested by experience building or testing the first frames.
