As I wrote on my Facebook page: I wonder what EASA and the FAA make of this idea. To me closing those doors means you will have a different cabin to the one certified, so will Airbus do that again? For only 11 more seats? The A380 was designed to hold more than 800 seats. As nobody uses that many seats, Airbus could remove some doors.

Airbus could remove some doors. Airbus is only talking about deactivating doors, not removing them. The latter would save weight but would be more costly to certify.
