I doubt that we can really find out the true prices they pay. There is a lot of stuff like type ratings, spare parts, remote maintenance services and such that might come with it or not. No doubt that a key customer with a big order at the right time can get at least 50 percent off.
Didn't Ryanair claim -right after 9-11- they paid only like a little more than a third of the list price for their big 737NG batch back then? Well they took them anytime, whenever Boeing had some empty slot, for years. And they kept the line running at high rates for Boeing. So it was worth it for both sides. What finally hurt was the resale of young aircraft on the used market.

What finally hurt was the resale of young aircraft on the used market. Those planes were-are young but have a lot behind .... so they are young by age but old by cycles and go out just ready for BIG service. As you can see they are not extremely popular among airlines and some are still in storage, however similar planes are immediately taken by someone. I have heard from someone from "Travel Service" that it is considerably better to have 10 years old 737NG from "someone" than 6 years old from FR

As Ryanair cannot be expected to fly A350s any time soon, I suggest this discussion to take place in a 737 thread.

And already lagging behind again, the Finnair top up order not yet counted: 786 total orders.

The Finnair order will be amended in the December order list.

The Finnair order will be amended in the December order list. I know Boeing is always somewhat faster in announcing orders because they update weekly. And completely off-topic: Why does the word Always Always come up with a capital A Anyone else notice this?
