And what is the real difference ? They do operate it, so how is the financing is from our point of view not so important....

The difference is not so obvious anymore with just 787-8 as the type designator. If not for that you would have seen 787-8Q8 and 787-8JP, clearly indicating the owner.

I have always wondered about that, sounds a stupid question but is there a list of what the different designation are? If not can we create one? Just curious as it can be very confusing for a simple lad like me!
