Someone in CHINA - most of the undisclosed are from CHINA (as comes out latter) I still do not understand why this is. I understand that some of the BBJs are undisclosed - that makes sense but big airline or lessor - why ?

I think undisclosed Chinese orders are a consequence of the specific process existing in China as regards aircraft orders. In that country, a two-step process has to be completed : firstly, a regular contract between an airline and a manufacturer, then approval of that contract by the central government.
I don't know exactly how the contracts are worded these days, but I think orders are said to be firm as soon as the contract is signed, even though the contract does not enter immediately into force. Boeing therefore books the order upon signature, but the customer is not identified before approval, to avoid the government taking offense.

Philidor true - but we do not sea this in such a quantity with Airbus orders and I am pretty sure both AB and BO sell about the same quantity into China - so still a mystery to both me and Baroque.

No compensation to Boeing. That's very forgiving. Perhaps there's more to the agreement like say future aircraft purchases be made from Boeing?

Another reduction in 787-8 total sales, which are more than 200 down on the 2010 peak of 670. Soon the 787-9 will overtake it. Geoff
