Yea... The central computer of a plane has the switch to turn the transponder and acars off... It is hidden somewhere in a plane... So if a person familiar with B777, they would able to locate it and turn it off... I womt be surprise if a hijacker is trained for this... Just... I wonder if it has landed. Why no ransom demand? Mystery...

Well it isn't looking good now, wish the news could be better, R.I.P. MH370.
Next thing to figure out is why?? Makes me sad and angry!

just read an interview with Emirates CEO Tim Clark on German newsmagazine SPIEGEL's internet site (German only), where he states that as a result of MH370's disappearance there was no need to improve modern aircraft tracking systems, but instead measures should be taken to ensure pilots can't turn off tracking devices An english summary can be found here

I don't think it's a new interview. It seems to be a translation into English of the previous interview, which was published in a German magazine.

Well, I'm nowhere as knowledgeable as this man in aviation, but I do have some mixed feelings regarding his views. At this point, with what we know, I agree with him that it is likely that someone took control of the plane, but I do allow for the possibility of other mechanical issue scenarios and mechanical issues with human intervention scenarios. I don't quite agree with his assertion that existing tracking systems shouldn't be allowed to be turned off. I think it should be allowed to be isolated in the case of some unexpected interference with the other systems it is embedded with, or electrical/overheating/fire risks. Any faulty unit may pose a risk to flight safety, as we've seen with the TK 1951 crash in Amsterdam (there are others as well). And I do trust the data interpretation by the Satellite people on the plane's possible final location.
