I think the most interesting quotes from Andrew Levy, UA chief financial officer, about the 77W are :
"we may sprinkle in some used ones - United does not plan to order any additional new 777-300ERs beyond the 14 it ordered in 2015".
These words are striking because Boeing has been offering some hard discounts on that type. They suggest that either the added 77Ws are intended as a mere bridge between the 747s ans A35Ks (they might be leased), or that UA is trying to get even larger discounts from Boeing.
According to the above Flightglobal piece, UA also expressed reluctance to replace their 767s with A339s.
"Asked if the airline would look at converting the A350 order to A330neos to replace its ageing Boeing 767s, [Levy] replied: 'we think [the A330-900] is more airplane than we need'. Levy points to the size of the A330-900, which Airbus says can carry 287 passengers in a three-class configuration, compared to the 767s as an issue. United configures its 767-300ERs with 214 seats and its 767-400ERs with 242 seats".
One consequence is that UA is unlikely to ask for a conversion of its A35K order to the A339.

I see United frames as postponed on the A350 production list, but can't find an official source about delay/cancellation of their A35Ks.
I know they were studying the "alternatives" (https://www.flightglobal.com/news/articles/united-considering-alternatives-to-a350-1000-434169/), but nothing definite. Anyone knows more?

Only an Airbus or UA insider could answer that question. Either the negociation is still under way, or information is temporarily withheld.

I am looking forward to these deliveries, that will put an end to any debate on UA's fleet plans.
