AFAIK, Airbus has never used "ER" before. They have previously denoted extended range versions using just "R" - like the A300-600R, and the proposed A380-800R, A350-900R. They have also used "LR" in one instance - A319LR.

What a clown piece. I wouldn't bother taking seriously someone who says "We're happy with the -900 and feel that the competition is doing things to catch up with it."
Reality check:
A321neo 734 B737-9 217
It's very brief with no numbers or facts to back up any of his claims and sounds like desperation, the kind you usually see when a bitter loss is imminent.

Since Boeing is still a few years away from tackling the problem with a new offering, there is nothing they can say about it now, except deny it ...

An AW story about the market need for a long-range narrowbody. aviationweek.com/commercial-aviation/airlines-signal-demand-long-range-narrowbodyThis piece is interesting, though I think it lacks an analysis of the potential market beyond existing 757 operators. Another question they did not try to go deep into is whether the A321neoLR (or ER) provides Airbus with real chances to breakthrough into 737 territory.
