Since Boeing is still a few years away from tackling the problem with a new offering, there is nothing they can say about it now, except deny it ... But Boeing's right hand man, Aboulafia thinks Airbus can sell more than 1000 units!

I would not be too afraid - they will sell those. I do not believe it is an immediate problem, since the development cost above 321neo is going to be very small. We might see some conversions etc.

I would not be too afraid - they will sell those. I just intended to point out that this is not the first firm 2015 order. Many sales will be recorded before this MoU becomes a contract.

The above claims are quite contradicting. The last claim is just simply wrong....which the sales numbers clearly is showing

Earlier, there was some confusion in this thread about the official designation of the plane. LR or ER or something else? I just noted that in the press release: Airbus consistently calls it A321neo 97t option. However, during the annual press conference yesterday, John Leahy referred to the ALC order by calling the plane "A321LR" (from time 40:10 onward):
