Second part of order also threatened: www.ch-aviation.com/portal/news/53987-aeroflot-considers-a350-900-orders-future-prospects"Aeroflot (SU, Moscow Sheremetyevo) may not take delivery of its fourteen A350-900s on order from Airbus (AIB, Toulouse Blagnac), Russia's Vedomosti newspaper has reported quoting sources familiar with the airline's operations. The report states that a commitment to the type depends on whether the Toulouse-based manufacturer can deliver the aircraft on time and on market dynamics. Should neither prove satisfactory, Aeroflot may seek to dispose of its order slots to another interested buyer, the sources said. Commenting on the canceled order for eight A350-800s, the sources said that given Airbus's desire to wind-down its A350-800 offering in light of the type's dwindling order backlog, Aeroflot was able to drop its order with no financial penalty incurred. It is recalled that last year, Aeroflot was able to extricate itself from an unwanted Dreamliner order by selling all purchase rights and obligations for twenty-two B787-8s to local Russian lessor, Avia Capital Services."

Reality is that SU is struggling, like all Russian carriers. It is not in a position to make a major investment soon. The rest is QR-style window-dressing.
The following excerpt is typical.
"The report states that a commitment to the type depends on whether the Toulouse-based manufacturer can deliver the aircraft on time and on market dynamics. Should neither prove satisfactory, Aeroflot may seek to dispose of its order slots to another interested buyer, the sources said".
This actually means : 'we are likely to defer deliveries'.

Quite a turn of events at Aeroflot, especially as not that long ago they were trying to off load their order. This is a big thumbs up for the A350.👍👍

They take their A320 and A321 with a big delay, so I can safely forget about the plans with the A350.
Their fleet A330 and 777 completely satisfies their requests. And there is no more money for more.
