With discounts for 748 already average close to 60%, it really not making much money for Boeing isn't it? I hate to see it go, but economically $150m per 748 really doesn't make that much sense. And it make the list price of $378m/$379m really silly. It might cost more money to lay people off ?

And it make the list price of $378m/$379m really silly. You have to put it into picture - normal discount is 50-55% on WB - so 60% is just a bit more but not wildly so. The list price is just a number without real economical sense - similar to list price on HP printers compared to street price.

The point might be to keep the production line going. If you just stop it for a moment it might easily be gone forever. Didn't they claim it could survive at a rate slightly below one a month now? That would help to wait for new freighter orders as more orders might be coming given that air cargo gets going again.
