If this dealy happens it probably does not represent such a problem as with the A380 since the order book is long and there are probably customers ready to take those earlier.

Parts for UL #1 (MSN 52) are now in Toulouse and will move to body join position in the coming days.
Given the advanced stage of (pre-)assembly, my guess is that Airbus will just assembly the aircraft and store them afterwards, until the airline is ready to take them. Airbus does the same with A330s.

UL's difficult financial situation makes me fear a Skymark-like scenario. I hope I am wrong, I would like to see UL's A350s fly away proudly ! Perhaps Airbus can finance some of the aircraft if the company sets up a credible turnaround plan ...

We only need UL to take the first three frames MSN 52, 55 and 60, all frame sections are now built for these three frames. UL can then cancel the remaining 5

IIRC, the first three frames were to come from a lessor. Won't the lessor have more of a say with regards to whatever that happens to the frame's progress than the airline customer itself?

You are right, if the lessor has paid deposits for the three frames its down to them. Get AB to Finish building them and find a new airline to lease them to, or store the parts to cut your loss ?

If the aircraft are built for a lessor, finding a substitute operator should not be too difficult.

If the aircraft are built for a lessor, finding a substitute operator should not be too difficult. Who would want them at 5 -7 months notice ? An existing operator, not many of those, or a new operator ? It takes a lot of planning and training to take on a new aircraft type ?
