According to the discussion about UL's A350 on airsrilanka.org, there are speculations that UL will sub-lease the A350s to TK. Could this be possible?

It is the four A350 they have ordered themselves he is talking about here, four out of a total plan of eight A350s The ones in different stages at TLS are leased aircraft and not among those 4 being cancelled

So they will end up with 3 oddball A350s in the fleet.

So they will end up with 3 oddball A350s in the fleet. Well, at least it is leased. There are many small airlines out there with such small fleets of an aircraft type, usually leased. Airbus probably won't be too harsh on penalties if Sri Lankan converts the order to something else, like A320s.

Let's not assume that this is the last word ... It seems to be a power play between the airline and the government.

Up to that it is well known that the airline is producing loss, for sure no gain. The attitude of the owner is only logical. Up to that try to shop for ticket to 4S7..... The competition from EK, TK, QR is devastating. Could they compete with those ?

Political play is different. From a political angle, you could say 'why not lease a few more, our airline can use them to make money and bring more tourists to our country'.
