Emirates changed routes, all planes avoid Iraq airspace if you look at Flightradar24.com ... I wonder how much this costs in extra fuel etc. The cost of human life far exceeds the cost of extra fuel. |

Emirates changed routes, all planes avoid Iraq airspace if you look at Flightradar24.com ... last night they did, this morning several aircraft on their way to Europe are back over Iraq. Seems like they avoid Iraq consequently only during the night? I find it very strange to announce such a step in public and then not to follow the announcement strictly. It obviously took them some days to completely implement the change of routes to all flights (perhaps the air traffic control in charge of the Iranian airspace, which now has to supervise most of the rerouted flights, had to adjust to the additional workload first? Does anyone know who exactly is in charge there?), but now QR and EY (among others) also seem to strictly avoid Iraqi airspace. |
