According to Aviation Week, Boeing officially launches a MAX 10. The new version competing with the A321neo is a modest stretch increasing maximum capacity to 189 pax in a two-class configuration, or 230 in one-class. This is allowed by a tweaked landing gear increasing take-off performance. The new gear however does not seem to be a higher one, since there is no change to either the wings or engines. Delivery of the new version is scheduled in 2020. No information is provided by AW about its range. aviationweek.com/commercial-aviation/boeing-defines-final-737-max-stretch-offering

Well I have read both articles carefully and found nothing about the range. The engines are smaller than on AB i.e. the efficiency is going to be slightly worse. (OK they will say that the drag is smaller to compensate etc.... but....) The range of 737-MAX 9 is not what the customers want and the one for 10 could not be better i.e. ? ? ? ? Also interesting is the condition - provided you sell something we will build it

I guess Boeing's new offering specifically targets operators that do not need as much range as the A321neo offers. I think of North-American and possibly Chinese domestic operations.

An additional tip from Jon Ostrower : the -10 range will be MTOW limited, so that additional tanks would not help.
Is there any new aircraft or engine feature offsetting the addional weight from a longer fuselage, or does the -10 take a range hit as compared to the MAX 9 ?

If I understand it well it will not be able to do EAST-WEST coast ? It is going to be hard to sell to someone form reasonable price. Maybe China or somebody in EU - but I doubt USA.

I expect the MAX 10 to have a shorter range (approximately -500 nm) than the 9 MAX.
That should still be about enough to sell the sub-type for some US transcon. Unlike s543, I expect most customers to be North American. This is a defensive tool designed to preserve Boeing's customers from the A321 temptation.

The only I can see is UNITED and Alaska .....
