MSN5000 was moved to the "torture chamber" on November 21 last year. "Today our #A350XWB Static Test Specimen was transferred from our Roger Béteille Final Assembly Line to Lagardère site!" Static tests should start next month. A350 XWB Full Scale Static Test Aircraft by EADSpics, on Flickr

Things are a bit quiet on this one. It's May and I think we're due for some kind of official word on whether the tests are in progress.

I'm pretty convinced that Aribus is already doing static tests, otherwise it is nearly impossible to fly in the next 2 months.

Usually, you don't hear much about these tests unless they have been completed ... or something has broken. No news, good news ?

It appears that Airbus has successfully completed the wing load test at 125%.

Testing to destruction is not a requirement, only getting to "ultimate load". Testing to destruction provides data as to the final margins on the wings design, which may be useful for later modifications to the aircraft. It is not required for certification, however.
